Fimmene de lu Salentu
by La Marina, MAD A ROAD
"Fimmene delu Salentu" is the ninth official song in the "Happy Dancehall Riddim" collection, produced by Morello Selecta for Yah Man Records. Supporting the Mad a Road production team is one of the most representative and respected female voices on the Italian reggae scene: La Marina. A Salento singer with an unmistakable style, she boasts over twenty years of career around Italy and countless collaborations, some of which have become milestones of the genre. An artist always committed to social issues, in defense of women and the territory, as well as a reference figure for the new generations of Salento women who see in the singer an example of a strong and independent woman. It is no coincidence that the central theme of the song is represented by the figure of the woman in the most instinctual concept of female: a tribute to innate and natural virtues and their creative force connected to the universe. In particular, the dedication to the women of Salento is evident from the clear reference to the work song "Fimmene fimmene", a protest song used by the so-called "Tabacchine" of Salento, who denounced the harsh working conditions in the fields, abuses, and harassment by the bosses. A powerful song that gets straight to the point, encouraging everyone to believe in themselves and to remain connected to nature, the arts, and never give up that mix of strength and sensitivity that makes them unique, characteristics that undoubtedly also distinguish the style of this pioneer of Salento reggae. "Fimmene delu Salentu" available on all digital platforms from February 18, 2025.
